Blog Give Away - Self Development Plans

I'm not one for making New Year's resolutions but I try to set goals for the year to move myself forward in areas which will improve my well being.

Be be a well rounded person I have to work on my mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well being.

Check the end of the post for a give away.

 LEARN

I enjoy photography.  I currently join challenges on Flickr each week.  The challenges are exciting and help me to see things from a new perspective.  It allows me to encourage others who share my passion for photography.
My comfort level is macro photos so I want to branch out into other perspectives in my photography.  I did a Cityscape calendar last year which was of out of my comfort zone.

I also will learn more skills in photo editing by reading books and taking on exercises.

READ

I started reading more over the last year and I have enjoyed it so I will to continue that practice into 2017.  I read for pleasure and to learn new things.

TEACH

I teach a card making class and in the last couple of years I have taught "Be Present for Christmas" an Advent Preparation class in the fall.  I would like to create a new Fruit of the Spirit Bible Study with an Art component.  I taught this scrapbooking the Fruit of the Spirit class several years ago.

RELAX

I have decided to use coloring as a way to relax and practice meditation this year.  I bought a small coloring book and will buy another when this one is full.
My advent class encourages us to slow down and enjoy the time with family and focus less on the pressure which comes from the commercialism of Christmas.  I'm bringing that to the full year.

MOVE

I have decided to move every day.  It may be my exercise DVD, it may be doing the stairs for 5 minutes, or taking a walk outside.  My Mom has done this all her life and it has stood her in good stead with her health challenge this past year.

GIVE AWAY

I have 5 photo calendars to give away so leave me a comment on this post about your plans for self development in 2017.
On January 31st I will choose with a random generator 5 lucky winners to receive these calendars.  Blessings and be well.

  1. Your plans sound great, Sylvia. I am trying to be kinder to myself - work a little less, play a little more. I am adding TRX to my gym workouts. For crafts I want to do more wet felting, work with my yet to be opened Gelli Art plates, and make Christmas cards throughout the year. I am re-reading the Louise Penny Inspector Gamache series currently. I am looking forward to a wonderful 2017. Happy New Year to you!

  2. Hi Sylvia,
sounds like you've made some sound choices to keep yourself on an even keel this year. Like you I'm moving more in 2017 setting myself challenges on my fitbit and enjoying some healthy competition from my younger sister to see which one of us will be fitter by the time we vacation in Florida come July!
Your calendars look fantastic ad I'd be very happy indeed to win one in your giveaway.

  3. Hello Sylvia,
You are very intentional about several areas of your life for 2017. It's good to articulate those things. In 2017 I hope to keep up with my regular fitness and walking (I do workouts on the LiveStrong site.) Reading is something I do a lot of, and last year I started keeping track of everything I read. I'd like to do that again this year. There are several sewing projects I'd like to do, and once the weather warms up, lots of gardening. Your calendars do look so pretty - what a lovely idea for a giveaway.

  4. Hi Sylvia
Your 2017 goals are lofty. Good for you. My 2017 goal is to start making greeting cards again and to join the swaps!!! But the days go by….

I managed to get 3 Christmas cards made – for my 2 daughters and a dear friend. The rest got ready made cards. 2016 was not the best year for me. But on the bright side, I’m feeling better and more energetic each day.

I recently read that it is important to announce your goals to help you stick with it. I, like you, plan on moving more and have added a ski machine to my routine. I also want to be more involved with the card making communities and bring my card making up a notch. I hope to learn new techniques and try one at least once a month.
Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2017.
